~ Grazing an August pasture~
***
On Saturday, we spent the day at our good friend's farm. It was a beautiful day, and while hot and humid in the city, the air in the country was cool and refreshing.
The garden was set up with long tables covered with vintage cloths and jars filled with freshly picked flowers overlooking corn covered fields ~ I love the country ambiance!
The majority of our meal came from their farm ~ plump field tomatoes in oil/vinegar and basil, sliced potatoes and onions, salad greens, rocket, endive, frisee and homemade bread ~ a vegetarians delight :-) The desert bar was equally delicious with homemade treats and fresh fruit and because it was our hostess' birthday ... carrot cake!
I live in the city ... but I really am a country girl at heart ♥

I know and understand what you mean...I am too, I was raised that way and am so thankful to live that life now. Your day sounds so wonderful! :D
This sounds like a most delightful time. I am a country girl in the burbs. Sigh~~
Hi Deb... that sounds like my dream day in the country! I am a country girl, and don't like big cities at all... your photo of the pasture is just beautiful!... xoxo Julie Marie
Me too, Deb! I'd love nothing more than to live in the country. Gorgeous photo!
Deb you painted such a beautiful picture with your words in this post. I love it when people write so that I feel I was there partaking of the day with them, and that is exacty how it felt to read your words here. Since I am a country girl and haven't had the opportunity to be anything but, I sometimes take for granted the privilege it is to eat fresh from the garden and smell the air. As you probably know, Idaho is very rural, and even our so-called cities are small. So everyone here pretty much lives in the country. My daughter who lives in Idaho biggest city Boise, even feels that she lives in the country.LOL! It sounds as if this day was picture perfect for you and I'm glad you had this time to spend with friends.
Thank you Deb for your lovely comment, it meant the world to me. Sometimes it is hard to hit the publish button on such a post...but I felt that this was something I needed to write that day. Thank you for the blessing of your friendship.
hugs
It sounds like you had just a beautiful day! The picture of the horses is great too. I'm glad your trip was so wonderful...
Perfect day!
I too live in the city but my heart belongs in the country...with internet...
Wonderful post.
