along country roads

It is a delightful pastime
to sit in the pleasant sunshine of Autumn,
and gazing
from this little spot
of free Earth
over such a landscape,
let the imagination luxuriate
amid the thrilling
association
of the scene!

Holiday Hare ...

*Holiday Hare*
Available in my Etsy shop
(link in sidebar)

I know it's only October :-)
And we don't have any snow ... (yet)

I didn't even anticipate painting a snowy scene when I started this morning.

Originally, my plan was a garden hare with his nose pointing upward,
a Sparrow resting on the tip of his fluffy nose.

But as I began to draw, the wind was blowing outside, it became very dark and rain drops began to hit my Sparrow Studio window. I turned on the twinkle lights and all of a sudden, looking down at my watercolour paper,  I envisioned Hare wearing a lovely plaid scarf, sitting on a bed of freshly fallen snow, with  more flakes falling from above, a star filled sky, and a skinny, lanky, tree.  You know ... the one that always gets left behind on the Christmas tree lots (so of course ... the very one I fall in love with) :-) Topped with a golden star just perfect for wishing upon ♥

how could I not paint one in snow ♥

rather, we need to be still

Savouring the beauty ...

Some of the last flowers ...
still looking beautiful
I am scattering seeds as I walk past the cosmos
that have bloomed in huge clusters all through the Summer and into Autumn
and given us lovely little posies for our table
a leaf dances in the air  by my shoulder and lands softly
walking through my garden
taking the time to savour the beauty ...
every little bit of it ♥
Have a wonderful Saturday

Thankful Living: Autumnal Blessings

The high winds have blown most of the Honeysuckle leaves from the vine ...
they have been dancing & twirling about in our garden for days :-)
I've been gathering them up and pressing them between pages of books ~ getting them ready to sit under  our Thanksgiving plates next weekend ♥
October
is the fallen leaf,
but it is also
a wider horizon
more clearly seen.
It is the distant hills
once more in sight,
and the enduring constellations
above them
once again
~Hal Borland~
