The ordinary arts we practice every day at home are of more importance to the soul than their simplicity might suggest ~ Sir Thomas Moore ~

Sunday Serenity ...

Late August coneflowers
Bumble bees and blooms
Monarch butterflies
& heart ♥ shaped ♥ wings
Today is my day
to dance lightly with life,
sing wild songs of adventure,
invite rainbows and butterflies out to play,
soar my spirit,
and unfurl my joy
~Jonathan Lockwood Huie~
Mindful walking on a very hot August afternoon
taking in all the beauty of my surroundings
{and the lovely company of a Monarch that chose to follow along with me}
spotted
tons of bumble bees , 2 yellow finch enjoying a seeded Sunflower head, sparrows taking shelter in a nearby tree, a blue jay,
grasshoppers, butterflies

Thankful {things I love} Thursday ...

Nature's garlands ♥
Bees
Pops of colour
A cool spot to rest
A life well lived
One of my favourite trees along the Avon river ...

and the best company ...
do it badly;
do it slowly;
do it fearfully;
do it
any way you have to;
but
do it.

Thankful {things I love} Thursday

We have been noticing all the little subtle changes on our daily walks with Archer as Summer begins winding down.
I usually find a few leaves to bring home & press between books on every walk.
Skeleton leaves fascinate me ~ such beauty! And while they look so delicate and crumbly, you know their strength just by the fact that they have survived so much.
Watching our garden bunnies enjoying the leaves, having a bit of a "change of Season tasting" ,
 I wonder ...
do the leaves taste as different as they look?
A little blush here and there
tiny curls
each unique in their own way
For Thankful (things I love} Thursday,
I am
So Thankful
to live where we celebrate
and have 4 very distinct Seasons ...
Autumn has always been my favourite ♥

with the bees ...

Last week I took some pieces of art out into my garden to photograph them.
The natural twists and turns of our Trumpet vine created the perfect little easels.
I was so focused on what I was doing that I forgot  the bumble bees loved the trumpet vine as much as I do :-)
So I stepped back for a bit,
and watched as they crawled deep inside (so deeply that I could no longer see them until they wiggled their way out backwards).
Adding so much beauty to my day ♥
"Build this day
on a foundation of pleasant thoughts.
Never fret at any imperfections that you fear
may impede your progress.
Remind yourself, as often as necessary,
that you are a creature of God
and have the power to achieve any dream
by lifting up your thoughts.
You can fly when you decide that you can.
Never consider yourself defeated again,
let the vision in your heart
be in your life's blueprint.
Smile!"

A walk on the wildside ...

Nature is man's teacher.
She unfolds her treasure to his search,
unseals his eye,
illumes his mind,
and purifies his heart;
an influence breathes
from all the
sights
and
sounds
of her
existence

Brush roll

I purchased some brushes last year that came with a (bonus) canvas brush roll.
The brush roll had the store logo stamped in black predominantly on the front and was not very attractive, and sat all rolled up in my craft cupboard.

I came across it  a few weeks ago and decided it was time to "make it my own".
Some free hand painting ... just adding as I went along ... first ... a nice big nest where the logo once was stamped :-) some branches ... a bird  {hello sweet Sparrow} ... flowers {lots of flowers} and once the paint had dried, some stamping.
Now it feels like mine ♥
