The ordinary arts we practice every day at home are of more importance to the soul than their simplicity might suggest ~ Sir Thomas Moore ~

Spring blossoms . . .

Considering how much snow fell, it has completely melted and all signs point to Spring once again!
The sun is shining, temperature rising, birds singing . . .
A walk through the neighbourhood streets  shows that pretty petals are blooming and none looking worse for the wear. . . phew . . .
The sidewalks look so pretty with wind blown and scattered apple blossom and magnolia petals
And the scent walking past them is intoxicating!

 Happy Friday!

the snow returns ...

Woke up to a very snowy morning and even though it was in the weather forecast, it was still a surprise to see just how much had fallen in such a short time.

Yesterday, I was admiring how pretty the daffodils looked in the garden ... well, "someone" has nibbled them all , not that I can blame him!
The coats with hoods, hats, scarves and gloves that had all been washed and put away are now back out again for my walk this morning. Time to bundle up again!
"Summer is delicious

rain is refreshing

wind braces up

snow is exhilarating

there is no such thing

as bad weather

only different kinds

of good weather"

~John Ruskin~

I love this quote! Hope you are having a wonderful Wednesday no matter what the weather.

Art Auction ...

Mark your calendar, it's almost time for the annual Dundas Valley School of Art Auction.

My painting "Small Wonders" will be part of the DVSA Auction and up for bids April 12-17th.

One of my most favourite subjects  ~ nests and eggs, this piece is painted in Acrylic on canvas.

Sized at  8" x 10" , it's a lovely piece to place anywhere in your home, alone or in a grouping on the wall.

Due to Covid and recent provincial shut-downs, the Auction will be held completely on line.

All details can be found on the Dundas Valley School of Art website.

WIP ....

I thought it would be fun to show how one of my horses comes to life and work in progress before I went any further. Normally I get so absorbed into painting that I don't stop to think about taking photos along the way.

Using one of my painting boards (the re-cycled cardboard that I keep on my desk underneath paper as I paint) the painting reveals itself and  I just begin there ....

I think I've only painted one of these recycled boards that wasn't a horse .... that one became an Owl
As soon as the eye appears, the story begins ... the unfolding ...

A new story to be told .... a new painting to unfold
I love all the layers that are already there .... paint splatters, pen testing, and on this board, a stamp as I tried out some ink. It will now become part of the painting tucked underneath layers.

think horses, not zebras"
