The ordinary arts we practice every day at home are of more importance to the soul than their simplicity might suggest ~ Sir Thomas Moore ~

Ensconced ...

The temps have dropped drastically these past few days

a mixture of wind & rain & hail

hats & gloves needed on walks with Archer
most of the garden furniture has been washed & stored for another year

won't be long and we will be hanging Christmas lights and stringing garlands on the picket fence :-}

sitting at the kitchen table, warming up with a fresh out of the oven cinnamon bun
and mug of tea, I watched the Sparrows through the window ...

the cool weather has them at the feeders for longer stretches of time ...

I love watching their quirky little ways ... each one is special & unique ♥

oh how I love my Sparrows ...

such a source of inspiration
comfort & joy ...

a few watercolours  from Sparrow Studio in the form of a new painting
'Nests of wild things
in her hair'
 ♥

my favourite part comes next ...
adding in all the detail
little legs, feet & feathers :-}

Happy is the person
who not only sings,
but feels
God's eye
is on the Sparrow,
and knows
He watches over me.
To be simply
ensconced
in God
is true joy.

sunday moments ...

Archer looked especially handsome this past weekend
wearing his new bandanna
a gift from friends
Julie Marie & Tessy
Tessy has one to match
{thank you ♥}
xoxo
It only took 3 tries to get a nice photo to show you  how cute he looked :-}
♥♥♥
Saturday rained all day
but Sunday's weather was perfect for a nice long walk
along the paths & hidden nooks & crannies of one of our favourite spots
we were surprised to find lady bugs, caterpillars & bees
this third week in October
this sweet nest was completely hidden just a few weeks ago
but now the leaves have blown away
and this little jem was tucked inside
I only went out for a walk
and finally concluded
to stay out till sundown,
for going out,
I found
I was really
going in

wherever I am ...

~snippets from my weekend~
***
foggy walks ...
rainy days ...
serenity ...
hidden treasures ...
inspiration ...
pumpkin time ...
which one will be the one? ...
and there is always one that is perfect {warts & all} :-D
Sometimes
I need only to stand
wherever I am
to be
blessed

Thankful {things I love} Thursday...

red & green basil {which smells heavenly}
braided garlic
gifts from a friend's garden
add our home grown tomatoes
and a quick, delicious bruschetta became today's lunch.
balsamic vinegar
extra virgin olive oil
garlic
fresh basil
salt & pepper
garden tomatoes
French baguette
In the end,
there is really nothing more important
than taking care of the earth
and letting it
take care of you

garden gifts ...

come sit a spell  & enjoy this beautiful Autumn weather...
painted this scarecrow many, many years ago on a scrap piece of wood
he comes out of storage & takes his place on  the front porch every October :-)
the leaves are changing colour
and covering our front lawn with a blanket of red, gold, and green...
I've been turning them into leaf bouquets for the house ♥
and re-purposing an old orange cardigan ...
it will now live as boot toppers, hand-warmers,  pumpkins & tiny owls ...
my favourite October bookmark
is a simple leaf
from our Maple...
I will leave them inside books
to press
 ♥
Since we Celebrate Thanksgiving October 14th here in Canada, I thought I'd leave the link to last years post that has tutorials on how I create "jack~be~little~pumpkins" & "gathering cutlery pouches" to pretty up your Thanksgiving table.  Both super quick & easy to make.
