The ordinary arts we practice every day at home are of more importance to the soul than their simplicity might suggest ~ Sir Thomas Moore ~

December Super Moon Love ...

Full Cold Super Moon Love
{December 3, 2017}
as seen from my backyard
& some of my favourite moon quotes x
"My heart is a wolf
ruled by two moons;
one
which beckons me back into the night,
the other
is calling me home"
~Maza-Dohta~

"We danced too wild,
and we sang too long,
and we kissed too sweet,
and howled just as loud as we wanted to howl,
because by now
we were all old enough to know
that what looks like crazy
on an ordinary day
looks a lot like love
if you catch it in the moonlight"
~Pearl Cleage~
"There are nights
when the wolves are silent
and only the moon
howls"
~George Carlin~
She was devoted to the moon.
In its darkness
she found comfort.
In its light
she found hope
"Some days
I am more wolf
than woman
and I am still learning
how to stop apologizing
for my wild"
~Nikita Gill~
In my defense,
the moon was full
and I was left
unsupervised

Thankful {things I love} Thursday ...

"You know that moment
first thing in the morning
and you open the window,
and you are flooded with the senses
of life,
birdsong,
fresh air,
sunbeams,
nature in all her glory...
it's just so sacred.
It's the life-bird
and she's singing the sweetest song.
She's reminding us
of what it is like to be alive.
Don't forget her song today.
Don't become so busy you can't hear it anymore.
Feeling alive today,
make that your focus.
Because we deserve to dance our days away.
Because we deserve to feel alive"
~S.C. Lourie~

Sunday Serenity

The ideas which have lighted my way
and time after time
have given me new courage
to face life cheerfully
have been
kindness
beauty
and
truth

Sunday Serenity ...

Every vine
climbing and blossoming
tells of love
and
joy
~Robert. G. Ingersoll~
the old fashioned charm of clematis
looking so pretty after an early morning rain
covering our garden arbour
a tiny nibble taken
"You carry Mother Earth within you.
She is not outside of you.
Mother Earth is not just your environment.
In that insight of inter-being,
it is possible
to have real communication
with the Earth,
which is the highest form
of prayer"
~Thich Nhat Hanh~
"Happiness held
is the seed.
Happiness shared
is the flower"
~John Harrigan~

sing the song ...

I have wanted & waited a long time for a Tibetan singing bowl.
The very first time I heard one, it's beautiful sound resonated with me .
Each time I went into a shop that sold singing bowls, there was always a few that I was drawn to,
and I would pick up the striker, tap the side of the bowl and listen ...
each one making it's own unique sound
wondering ... was this the bowl for me? knowing that I was patient enough to wait ...
and that it would appear at the right time.
and "the one for me" appeared
her sound is sweet and gentle and soothing
and well worth the waiting ...
"The true miracle lies in our eagerness to allow
appreciate
and honor
the uniqueness
the freedom of each sentient being
to sing
the song
of
their heart"
~Amit Ray~
and in our sparrow garden
there was much singing and happiness today also ...
baby sparrows
{be still my heart} ♥
watching them out of our kitchen window as mama sparrow
took pieces of fresh suet from the basket to feed her babes
& with my IPad on the kitchen table, I picked it up and managed to record mama feeding her little ones {on my Instagram page if you would like to see it}

lilac days

It must have been all the rain we've had recently ...
our lilac has bloomed it seems
overnight :-D
found end of season while strolling through the garden center
sitting in the corner for under $2.00
she looked like she had sat there for a while poor thing
needing a good pruning and watering & a spot to put down roots.

that was 27 years ago and she has never disappointed
her branches hang over our kitchen window, and have created a lovely little archway as we step off our deck into the garden ...
there is always a bird (or two or more) resting on her thick sturdy branches,
the squirrels love to climb on one in particular and look into our kitchen :-D
and now, in bloom, our entire garden will be filled with the intoxicating aroma of her blooms.
I will clip some here and there to bring inside.

a tiny first of the season sprig xo
garden bliss
In my garden
there is a large place
for sentiment.
My garden of flowers
is also my garden
of thoughts
and dreams.
The thoughts grow
as freely as the flowers
and the dreams
are as beautiful.
