It's hanging clothes outside weather once again.
We use our clothes line from early Spring until LATE Fall ...
Over the years, I've had very large clothes lines that stretched across the yard ... umbrella style clotheslines that spun ... "make shift" clothes lines at the cottage ...
clothes lines that told our life story at the time ...
work shirts
gardening clothes
cloth diapers
baby sleepers
dog blankets :-)
not only good for the environment...
but good for the soul ♥
as a young mum, I would have to watch for squirrels as our garden was filled with Walnut trees and the squirrels would climb a branch, grab a walnut and start to peel it. I would have a line full of lovely white flannel nappies hanging to dry and any little bit of walnut peel would stain them.
nothing like getting into bed of an evening
to the sweet smell of fresh aired sheets
or lovely air dried towels
Wash Day Sally & The Lone Sock prints are available in my shop.
Both prints hang in my own laundry room with vintage washboard, vintage iron and basket of wooden pegs ...
{might as well make the laundry room pretty too}
We should all do what,
in the long run,
gives us joy
even if it is only
picking grapes
or sorting the laundry

I loved this post, and your art work Deb! I am a big fan of clotheslines, and I agree that nothing is better than crawling into bed at night and smelling sheets that have dried on the line. :-)
All lovely and I can almost smell the fresh linen !! Anita xx
I used to love hanging the clothes out on the line. And then later, collecting the fresh laundry. I miss it so very much. I live on a very, very dusty corner now, and so I cannot. Maybe that will change one day. As a matter of fact, if we ever decide to move, I will list that as a feature I need.
Thank-you so much for this lovely post, and enjoy the rest of your week.
How adorable these are Deb!... and your laundry room sounds just darling!... I have an old washboard too... wish I had a clothesline!... I do have a small old wooden portable one that I use... you are right, nothing like clothes fresh from the line!... xoxo... Julie Marie

hi Andrea ~ so true ... so many things influence hanging out the laundry, I agree. we've had lots of "renovations" happening in our neighbourhood so listen out for saws and drills before anything goes on the line :-)no noise is a good sign! Have a wonderful week ♥
