As soon as we open the front door we are met with a big splash of purple thanks to the Clematis growing along the arbour in front of our porch.
The blossoms are huge this year, much bigger than we remember them.
The peony buds are just about to open up ...
Lots of rain and the warmth of this past long weekend have helped the garden...

This past Victoria Day weekend was spent planting up pots, baskets urns.
Sweet Ernie LOVES being in the garden (especially in the shade)! Sitting under the leaves of the Honey suckle vine was a favourite resting spot.
A garden pond has been on my "Garden Wish List" for years, and two weekends ago I found one at a garage sale for $30.00 :-)
We all agreed on the "perfect spot"... It's only just in the ground and already the birds are enjoying it :-)
Now the fun part begins ... landscaping with rocks and flagstone, putting in a water fountain, adding some plants and maybe even a few little goldfish.

Had to take a photo of Ernie's (digging) nose :-)
And remember the photo of the Robin sitting on the fence I posted a few days ago? She is now building a nest in the Trumpet Vine above where she is standing :-) So we won't be using that gate for a while. I have the perfect "birds eye" view looking down from my Studio window though so hopefully I will be able to get a few photos ♥

I love that beautiful Ernie!! Your flower photos were so pretty! And you are going to enjoy that pond of yours - we have something similar. We had goldfish that had survived for a couple years (even thru the winter) only to be eaten by a Blue Heron - lol!
Ernie is so sweet and got such a WONDERFUL home for the remainder of his life.♥ Your blooms are gorgeous. I think you should plant the trumpet vine...those are so pretty! I can't wait to see the little robin's nest and eggs. How neat that you have a "birds eye" view. Again, I LOVE that last picture of your gorgeous gate.
Hello, thanks so much for stopping by. I love to watch birds and if it wasn't so humid I'd stay longer in my garden. Have a great day, Theresa
Hello Deb... your photos are stunning! I love Ernie so much... doggie kisses Ernie! That pretty robin on the fence is precious... no wonder she wants to build her nest in your peaceful gardens... xoxo Julie Marie
How nice to have the robin building her nest in the trumpet vine and you get to watch! I've been watching our mourning dove build their nests and feeding the new babies. I love watching them and even tried to get some photos, but no luck.
I think it's wonderful you now have a garden pond. That should be fun.
Ernie is just the sweetest!
Hugs,
Donna
Amazing photos of the clematis and peony.
I can't wait to see the complete pond project.
Do you think Ernie will take a little dip in it to cool his tummy?
Hugs,
Kit
Dear Deb, what a shame to lose your beautiful hedge and your privacy. I hope the pond makes up for it a little. The birds visit our pond all day long, all year :-) I am sure it will bring you many hours of pleasure.
