The ordinary arts we practice every day at home are of more importance to the soul than their simplicity might suggest ~ Sir Thomas Moore ~

Incomprehensibly beautiful ...

I've looked up into our Maple tree over the months and spotted this little nest.
Always in awe of how even the tiniest of nests {and this one is tiny} can withstand all the changes in weather.
Heavy winds of the past weeks have broken branches from our tree ...  still  this little nest remained.
And then ... it tumbled softly to our front garden and when I turned it over, this is  what I found inside ...  Amongst the crushed shell and leaves was a little wooden cross.

step into a garden to know
Divine Intervention
exists"
~Mary Maude Daniels~
{ petunia was planted by my grandson and given to me a few weekends ago ... no matter how many flowers bloom in my garden ... this one will be my favourite } ♥

the world
is
incomprehensibly beautiful ~
an endless prospect
of
magic and wonder"

Lilac Days xo

Lilac days in our garden ...

O were my love
yon Lilac fair,
Wi' purple blossoms
to the Spring,
and I
a bird
to shelter there,
when wearied
on my
little wing!

Wash Day Sally ...

It's hanging clothes outside weather once again.
We use our clothes line from early Spring until LATE Fall ...
Over the years, I've had very large clothes lines that stretched across the yard ... umbrella style clotheslines that spun ... "make shift" clothes lines at the cottage ...
clothes lines that told our life story at the time ...
work shirts
gardening clothes
cloth diapers
baby sleepers
dog blankets :-)
not only good for the environment...
but good for the soul ♥
as a young mum, I would have to watch for squirrels as our garden was filled with Walnut trees and the squirrels would climb a branch, grab a walnut and start to peel it. I would have a line full of lovely white flannel nappies hanging to dry and any little bit of walnut peel would stain them.
nothing like getting into bed of an evening
to the sweet smell of fresh aired sheets
or lovely air dried towels
Wash Day Sally & The Lone Sock prints are available in my shop.
Both prints hang in my own laundry room with vintage washboard, vintage iron and basket of wooden pegs ...
{might as well make the laundry room pretty too}
We should all do what,
in the long run,
gives us joy
even if it is only
picking grapes
or sorting the laundry
