The ordinary arts we practice every day at home are of more importance to the soul than their simplicity might suggest ~ Sir Thomas Moore ~

Thankful {things I love} Thursday

We have been noticing all the little subtle changes on our daily walks with Archer as Summer begins winding down.
I usually find a few leaves to bring home & press between books on every walk.
Skeleton leaves fascinate me ~ such beauty! And while they look so delicate and crumbly, you know their strength just by the fact that they have survived so much.
Watching our garden bunnies enjoying the leaves, having a bit of a "change of Season tasting" ,
 I wonder ...
do the leaves taste as different as they look?
A little blush here and there
tiny curls
each unique in their own way
For Thankful (things I love} Thursday,

and have 4 very distinct Seasons ...

Let the fun begin!

I was thrilled yesterday
to walk up the cobblestone path to my front door,
and find in my little wicker basket{which is all decorated with fresh cedar and bells and a little bird to hold Christmas mail},
"The Coloring Studio"
I feel I have been waiting months for December 1st to arrive knowing that this was the publish date.
My black and white illustration Soulful Whispers is on the front cover.
Inside, it's a Completed Project ♥
Along with my Whimsical hare ...
It was raining on and off for most of the day, making it the perfect "coloring day"
In the center of The Coloring Studio are my 3 birds
I adore "This book belongs to" pages in books
so was thrilled to see this was the 1st page.
Instant personalization ♥
Loved seeing how another artist envisioned my drawing
and the colours chosen
some close up detail of two of my birds on a branch
Happy December ♥
With all the busyness that is happening this month ... what a perfect way to sit with your crayons and pens and pencils and take some time for  yourself.

untying the ribbon ...

little hidden treasures
found everywhere on my morning walk
slowing me down  in my walking tracks
(such beauty)
and sometimes ... like finding this little sweetie
stopping me in my walking tracks to chat a while :-)
fresh, crisp air to fill my lungs
humour ~ always something to put a smile on my face ...
I find it all right under my nose (and toes)
above my head
the perfect way to start the day
with Gratitude
and then, finding a twisted heart grapevine as I headed back home ♥

Holiday Hare ...

*Holiday Hare*
Available in my Etsy shop
(link in sidebar)

I know it's only October :-)
And we don't have any snow ... (yet)

I didn't even anticipate painting a snowy scene when I started this morning.

Originally, my plan was a garden hare with his nose pointing upward,
a Sparrow resting on the tip of his fluffy nose.

But as I began to draw, the wind was blowing outside, it became very dark and rain drops began to hit my Sparrow Studio window. I turned on the twinkle lights and all of a sudden, looking down at my watercolour paper,  I envisioned Hare wearing a lovely plaid scarf, sitting on a bed of freshly fallen snow, with  more flakes falling from above, a star filled sky, and a skinny, lanky, tree.  You know ... the one that always gets left behind on the Christmas tree lots (so of course ... the very one I fall in love with) :-) Topped with a golden star just perfect for wishing upon ♥
