The ordinary arts we practice every day at home are of more importance to the soul than their simplicity might suggest ~ Sir Thomas Moore ~

at the heart ♥ of life ...

the weather this past weekend was absolutely gorgeous
and the trees, like magic, turned colour from one weekend to the next...
it was truly breathtaking

birds chirping
and chipmunks ...
the chippies were everywhere
now I know they seem to all look the same :-)
but there are some who have little markings that we recognize
like "Notchie" who has a V on the top of his ear
he loves peanuts!

and back at home while tidying up the garden
noticed the loveliest little heart shaped nibble in the hosta leaves.
Summer ends
and Autumn comes
and he who would have it otherwise
would have high tides always
and a full moon every night;
and thus
he would never know
the rhythms that are at the
heart
of  life

The Everything Girl ...

This past weekend, the weather flip flopped hour to hour ...
on our hike with Archer it was hot and very, very windy
so it was nice to walk through the  wooded paths,
lovely thin trails
single file
shaded
and highly scented

lots of lovely bumbles
and plenty of opportunities to make HUGE wishes :-)
cool clear streams
archer is a typical lab and is drawn to water
on Sunday
I woke to rain
heavy, heavy downpours
the kitchen was dark and dreamy
just perfect to do some early morning baking
a few trays of jam tarts
made with the leftover pastry
from an apple and pear pie.
By the time I was finished baking and dishes done
the rain had stopped
the sun was out
and
I needed to open the back door and let the cool air in :-D
The Everything Girl
is in my Etsy shop this morning.

A little bit of everything ... she loves and celebrates it all.
The tree, hummingbird, butterfly, snail, frog, moth, butterfly, bunny, flowers, nest ... and all that's magical in the world.
She takes time to smell the flowers.
Being as I am directionally challenged :-) I added a little wooden compass around her neck to help her find her way ♥

Thankful {things I love} Thursday ...

The shelves of  my Etsy shop Vintage Sparrow Studio
are being filled with new prints today.

Prints and stories that are dear to my heart.
I have started adding some prints from my
© Women of the Woods Series

From Where You Dwell
is #1 in the series
Celtic Prayer
"The Deer's Cry"

I arise today
through the
Strength of Heaven,
Light of Sun,
Radiance of Moon,
Splendor of Fire,
Speed of Lightening,
Swiftness of Wind,
Depth of Sea,
Stability of Earth,
Firmness of Rock.
I always wonder
why birds stay in the same place
when they can fly anywhere on the Earth.
Then, I ask myself the same question.

Vintage Sparrow Studio ...

Where do I begin?
I have wanted to share the news here for so long ... the thrill of opening up my email and finding the loveliest note from Leslie Howell, publisher of The Country Register.
My very 1st Cover!  An absolute dream come true.
Picking up The Country Register magazine is a tradition while travelling. It's always the first thing I do upon entering a lovely shop.  I never dreamed that one day, my artwork would find it's way on the cover of this gem of a paper ♥
Thank you so much Leslie.  It has been an absolute pleasure working with you and I have enjoyed each and every one of our email conversations back and forth getting to know you :-)

You must live in the present
launch yourself on every wave
find your eternity
in each moment

And with Thoreau's wise words, I have also put another dream into action.
Vintage Sparrow Studio Etsy shop is now open.
I am so looking forward to sharing my Art  & creations with you and filling up the shop
bit by bit.

Thank you to my sweet friends who offered assistance and shared their knowledge (you know who you are).  xoxoxoxo

like trees ...

If we surrendered
to Earth's intelligence
we could rise up
rooted
like
trees.
~Rainer Maria Rilke~

There always seems to be a tree that I gravitate too & this particular day it was this amazing Weeping Willow.
Oh the images I could spot ...
Do you see the bird and the owl, the mountain goat  and hare?
Her branches framed the Thames ...

the ducks knew where to rest ...

Happy September!
