The ordinary arts we practice every day at home are of more importance to the soul than their simplicity might suggest ~ Sir Thomas Moore ~

thankful {things I love} thursday ...

cardinal couples
nests
beautiful in every season
pieces of art in themselves
Archer ~ my love
unconditional
x
snow glistening like diamonds
and tree branch shadows
the serenity of the woods
& the deep love , respect and connection I feel for mother earth...
shared in my newest painting
bound to you
crow * owl * badger * hare * moon *trees
the "story" became more of a love note
I am bound to you
heart and soul
living fully
brave and bold

sky watcher
earth walker
tree hugger
bird talker

bound to you
body and mind
precious *mother earth*
you leave daily treasures for me to find

how you nourish me
in simple, gentle ways
a cooling breeze, sky filled with clouds
warmth on my neck ... Namaste

in gratitude, I bow...
you keep me grounded
keep me aware
keep me well rounded

I am bound to you
in every move I make
I walk you gently
giving back more than I take

whispering ancient wisdom ...

how did you know what I needed to hear?
whispering ancient wisdom into my ear.
how did you sense my need to learn more?
everyday I have a longing to know more than the day before.
thank you,
dear one,
for entrusting in me 🙏🏻...
for always opening my ears & my eyes to the beauty 🍃🌿
helping me
to hear and to see.
reminding this crone
she is never alone ✨

one walk through the woods
fills my head {and heart}
with images & words ...
and while Mr .Crow may have been my only companion as I walked
his beauty and presence was enough to stir my imagination x

wildflowers ...

I have a large clump of cosmos growing in my little country garden.
They are closest to the driveway and the first flowers to greet me as I get out of my car.
I love this time of year {for so many reasons} ... the cosmos {which began many years ago from gathering dried seed pods in the Muskokas, brought home and scattered in my own garden}still have lots of pretty pink blooms, but there are lots of dried seed pods too ♥
I've been running my hand over some of them and sprinkling those back into the earth & gathering up others.
This Thanksgiving, a little seed package will sit next to each plate :-D
You are ...
the Sun
the Water
the Air
Wings
Roots
... the Earth

where she could be *wild* and *free*

lake Ontario love ♥ ...

"She had the Spirit
of the Sun
the Moods
of the Moon
the Will
of the Wind"
~Julie Cantrell~
I am forever grateful to live in such a beautiful corner of the world ♥
daily walks along lake Ontario fill my heart and soul
with serenity and gratitude
watching the boats
the waves ... they were crashing this morning...
the salty scent from the water and the sound of waves raising
as I walked absorbing her energy & giving her mine
seeing "images" in driftwood
and watching the blades of grass sway
wild flowers
reaching for the sun
they know what to do
sweet sitting {meditation} spot

flocks of geese
carved paths luring me towards the sand ... time for some
barefoot walking :-D
"Make your heart
like a lake,
 with a calm, still surface,
and great depths of kindness"

Sunday Serenity

"I like to walk.
Touch living Mother Earth ~
bare feet best,
and thrill
every step.
Used to envy
happy reptiles
that had the advantage
of so much body
in contact with earth,
bosom to bosom.
{We} live with our heels
as well as head
and most of our pleasure
comes that way"
~John Muir~
... a mish mash of photos from my week ♥
after a very busy day, I stumbled across this sweet turtle
who was basking in the sunshine.
he would lift his little head up to the sun, eyes glistening, in pure bliss.
I found a nearby rock at the edge of the pond and sat just watching him and smiling.
he stretched out one arm ... then another ... and slid into the cool water.
beautiful blooms
hello
stopped to listen to a sparrow serenade ♥
such beauty!
do you see the butterfly?

sing the song ...

I have wanted & waited a long time for a Tibetan singing bowl.
The very first time I heard one, it's beautiful sound resonated with me .
Each time I went into a shop that sold singing bowls, there was always a few that I was drawn to,
and I would pick up the striker, tap the side of the bowl and listen ...
each one making it's own unique sound
wondering ... was this the bowl for me? knowing that I was patient enough to wait ...
and that it would appear at the right time.
and "the one for me" appeared
her sound is sweet and gentle and soothing
and well worth the waiting ...
"The true miracle lies in our eagerness to allow
appreciate
and honor
the uniqueness
the freedom of each sentient being
to sing
the song
of
their heart"
~Amit Ray~
and in our sparrow garden
there was much singing and happiness today also ...
baby sparrows
{be still my heart} ♥
watching them out of our kitchen window as mama sparrow
took pieces of fresh suet from the basket to feed her babes
& with my IPad on the kitchen table, I picked it up and managed to record mama feeding her little ones {on my Instagram page if you would like to see it}
