Sunday Serenity ...

Every vine
climbing and blossoming
tells of love
and
joy
~Robert. G. Ingersoll~
the old fashioned charm of clematis
looking so pretty after an early morning rain
covering our garden arbour
a tiny nibble taken
"You carry Mother Earth within you.
She is not outside of you.
Mother Earth is not just your environment.
In that insight of inter-being,
it is possible
to have real communication
with the Earth,
which is the highest form
of prayer"
~Thich Nhat Hanh~
"Happiness held
is the seed.
Happiness shared
is the flower"

drawn towards the wanderings of the woods ...

with my bundle of tiny twigs getting bigger by the day
I sat and painted a few
and looked through old discarded/damaged books
for words that spoke to me ...
*her heart was drawn towards the wanderings of the woods*
"the forest and I
was all there was.
In the deep still silence
I could feel
the Earth's
beating heart"
and looked through found treasures from walks past
~heart shaped stones~
owl faced walnut shells keeping me company
{and making me smile}
spotting hearts amongst the beauty of fallen and gathered bark
the trees fingerprint
"you were you
and I was I;
we were two
before our time.
I was yours
before I knew,
and you have always been
mine too"
skeleton leaves
oh how I love finding them
the epitome of life I think
what may look delicate and fragile and aged
has lived to tell a long story
of holding its own
and while some may look and see an old weathered leaf
I see resilience, life lived  and pure beauty ♥
I remember carrying this leaf home ever so carefully thinking it would crumble before I reached the front door
but what a lesson it taught me as it has sat in a bowl now for years  and has not changed :-D
acorns
rattling about
some with caps
others the caps have fallen off
"she lost herself in the trees
among the ever-changing leaves.
she wept beneath the wild sky
as stars told stories of ancient times.
the flowers grew towards her light,
the river called her name at night.
she could not live an ordinary life
with the mysteries of the universe
hidden in her eyes"
~Christy Ann Martine~
~painted bark fairie~
"Forests will always hold your secrets,
for that's what forests are for.
To separate and hide things.
To protect, to comfort, to hold, to envelop, to demonstrate, to slow down, to hold, to teach.
Go to the trees to explore your questions and dreams.
Go to the trees to desire and seek.
The world will listen
as you walk, watch, soften and breath"

Thankful {things I love} Thursday ...

woodland walks ...
whispers in the trees...
wandering ...
shinrin-yoku
shinrin : forest, woods
yoku: fully
known as
"forest bathing"
~ the restorative effects of being in nature~
and I am so thankful to have lovely soothing woods only a short walk away...
a spot where some of my favourite trees ♥ dwell and call home

"Why must people kneel down to pray?
If I really wanted to pray
I'll tell you what I'd do.
I'd go out
into a great big field
all alone or into the deep, deep, woods,
and I'd look up into the sky
up-up-up- into that lovely blue sky
as if there was no end to its blueness.
And then
I'd just *feel* a prayer.
Well, I'm ready.
What am I to say?"
~L.M. Montgomery~

♥ hope you are having a wonderful Thursday filled with much Thankfulness♥

in rainy arms ...

it's been raining all day {switching back and forth from misty to pouring}
and I had been patiently waiting for a lull
to head outside with my camera.
Even when I thought it had stopped long enough to take a few photos
I was only able to take these 11 before the skies opened up again :-D
But everything is so green and full of life
and the peony have opened up and will only be in bloom for a short while
so I want to savor every moment ♥
"I was in love
with the whole world
and all that lived
in its rainy arms"

easy as pie ...

I love to bake
and apple pie is a favourite in our house
like many , I don't use a 'recipe' ... I suppose I've made so many pies over the years
and even though there are lots of pie recipes in my cookbook collection, this is the way
I like to make it.
sliced apples * a little brown sugar * dash of cinnamon & freshly grated nutmeg
that's it ...
piled high on top of a light pastry
and the same deep dish pan
crimped edges &
a few steam slits on the top
a sprinkling of sugar
and into the oven it goes
this is what was left after hubby spotted it
and son stopped by to say hello after work :-D
a slice saved for my sweet daughter knowing she was stopping by too ...
{and Archer got the crumbs}

cultivate wonder ...

I love old fashioned flower presses
{and old fashioned flowers}
and mentioned to my hubby that I would love a small enough flower press that we could tuck into our knapsacks while hiking ...
and he surprised me by heading out into the workshop and making me one ♥
very talented, that guy {love} of mine!
It's the perfect size ~ not sure if I will add this painting to the front
or paint something
or maybe wood burn an image ...
but loving it ♥
today's little treasure find while walking with |Archer
was this sweet walnut "owl" shell

Added my latest painting
Cultivate wonder
to my shop this afternoon
{and what happened while painting her which is woven into her story}
Cultivate wonder into your life
for it is surely the way to bliss

sing the song ...

I have wanted & waited a long time for a Tibetan singing bowl.
The very first time I heard one, it's beautiful sound resonated with me .
Each time I went into a shop that sold singing bowls, there was always a few that I was drawn to,
and I would pick up the striker, tap the side of the bowl and listen ...
each one making it's own unique sound
wondering ... was this the bowl for me? knowing that I was patient enough to wait ...
and that it would appear at the right time.
and "the one for me" appeared
her sound is sweet and gentle and soothing
and well worth the waiting ...
"The true miracle lies in our eagerness to allow
appreciate
and honor
the uniqueness
the freedom of each sentient being
to sing
the song
of
their heart"
~Amit Ray~
and in our sparrow garden
there was much singing and happiness today also ...
baby sparrows
{be still my heart} ♥
watching them out of our kitchen window as mama sparrow
took pieces of fresh suet from the basket to feed her babes
& with my IPad on the kitchen table, I picked it up and managed to record mama feeding her little ones {on my Instagram page if you would like to see it}
