Texture Tuesdays #20...

This weeks challenge ~ orange themed photos ...
Golden Morning
Kim Klassen Texture: Crackerjack
After a very hot and humid Summer, many of our poor plants took a beating ~ but not our Crackerjack Marigolds, they are still going strong! Along our picket fence, I hung a little iron basket and filled it full of marigolds ~ they've grown nice and straight ... no reaching for the sun this summer :-)
Happy Texture Tuesdays ♥
Thank you Kim for another gorgeous texture!

Take Rest ...

Take rest

A field that has rested

gives a beautiful

When your heart is in the Country ...
Spotting a field of resting cattle & their young ...

you feel rested too.

Spotting this sweet little Donkey brought a smile to our face.

He found a nice cool spot in a field hole :-)

Tasha Tudor Day...

Thank you Clarice for once again hosting "Tasha Tudor Day"

A celebration of life on Tasha's Birthday ♥
Tasha Tudor has been such a source of inspiration to me, from her love of nature, to her way of life, and gift of gorgeous artwork.
She loved Corgyn like I love Labs :-)

Over the years, I have sought out books by Tasha and if I am fortunate to come across one I already have, I pick that up too as I know someone else would love to have it!
I cherish my collection of Tasha Tudor books.
Her artistic style was always such an inspiration to me & her love of dogs, nature and flowers was so evident in her many beautifully illustrated books.

I especially love how she framed many of her watercolour pictures with tiny little sketches covering the outside of the page.

A picture within a picture.

~Blessed are those who can give without remembering

and take without forgetting~

Tasha generously shared her own family traditions in her books

& Tudor Family recipes {or I should say receipts} :-)

Her nineteenth ~ century lifestyle is legendary.
When I read the words of Fra Giovanni

I think of Tasha.

I salute you!

There is nothing I can give you

which you have not, but there is much that, while I cannot give,

you can take.

No Heaven can come to us

unless our hearts find rest in it today.

Take Heaven.

No peace lies in the future

which is not hidden in the present moment.

Take peace.

The gloom of the world is but a shadow, behind it, yet within our reach

is joy.

Take Joy!

Thankful {things I love} Thursday...

Libraries & wool shops , two of my most favourite places to spend hours wandering about.

I can easily get lost for hours in each :-)

And while I haven't tackled terribly difficult to follow patterns, I do love to make a few knitted gifts each year for friends & family to enjoy.

Of course, left over wool never goes to waste as I have Douggie & Angelo, my daughter's "fur babies" , who are always in need of some new pet mice :-)

With my favourite Season approaching, it's time to stock up and begin thinking woolies and hats, mittens, socks, scarves ... Hurrah!

I found some gorgeous 100% cotton and Merlino wool this morning

and filled up my knitting basket ...

And at the Library, the most gorgeous book ~ Natural Nursery Knits ~ by Erika Knight.

Page after page is filled with the most gorgeous photography ~ with vintage baby vignettes.

I want to make it all! So far I've made some pram toys and in the middle of a classic cardigan, but I am sure it won't stop there :-)

Know you

what it is to be a child?

It is to be something

very different

from the man of to-day.

It is to have a spirit

yet streaming from the waters of baptism.

It is to believe in love,

to believe in loveliness,

to believe in belief.

It is to be so little

that the elves can reach to whisper

in your ear; it is to turn pumpkins into coaches,

and mice into horses,

lowness into loftiness

and nothing into everything.

For each child

has its fairy godmother

in its own

I'm Ready for My CloseUp...

Our trumpet vine was all a buzz this morning ...

We are always happy to see (and hear) the bumbles ...

And I am always happy when they stay in one spot long enough for me to grab my camera and take a photo ...

Although I think this one was a bit camera shy :-)

is to become so wrapped up in something

that you forget

to be afraid

On the Wings of Butterflies...

Nature's message

was always there
for us to see.

It was written

on the wings

~Kjell B. Sandved~

We spent the day at the Butterfly Conservatory in Niagara Falls.

Home to over 2,000 butterflies in a tropical rain forest setting.

We had butterflies in our hair, on our hands, legs, and for much of the time, one sat happily on my camera :-)

A magical spot & one I can't wait to return to!

Now I need to pick up a butterfly identification book and match names with photos ( I took 140 today)!

Thankful {things I love} Thursday...

A mosaic from my little corner of the world today .

It is still really HOT & HUMID and today I am Thankful for ...

A nice refreshing salad of oak leaf lettuce, celery, tomato, cucumber, avocado & sesame seeds with a fig/balsamic dressing.

The beautiful music of Ron Sexsmith. Listening to his "Time Being" C.D. and repeating "Jazz at the Bookstore" :-) Jax loves him too :-) Thankful my kitchen is filled with lots of music ...

Watching the birds in our garden splashing about in our pond and enjoying the cherries & raisins we put out for them. Thankful they are able to cool off ...

Admiring my new songbird t-towel with cute pom pom trim (very Anthropologie) :-) Thankful to have found on the reduced table at HomeSense!

Reading "Second Chances"

More Tales of Found Dogs

Such an amazing, inspirational read filled with the most gorgeous b&w photos. Always missing, but feeling Thankful for the time we shared with Ben & Ernie who found their way to us ♥

is more than good manners.

It is good Spirituality.
