The ordinary arts we practice every day at home are of more importance to the soul than their simplicity might suggest ~ Sir Thomas Moore ~

May ...

every first day of may
I like to fill a jam jar with flowers
wrap a little wire around the rim
and hang it from a branch outside
I like to bake a few cookies
and sprinkle them with glittering sugar
bundle them together with some simple string
make a simple posy, wrapped in newsprint
and then cover with burlap ...
add a hand painted card
and write a  sweet gesture for may inside
{when burlap unravels, keep the strands ... they are perfect for tying  your posy together}
May
flowers
 always line your path
and sunshine light your day.
May
songbirds
 serenade you
every step along the way.
May
a rainbow
run beside you
in a sky that's always blue.
And May
happiness
fill your heart
each day
your whole life through.
~Irish Blessing~
May you have a day of Sparrow Serenades xo

Those sound like such wonderful May rituals, I may need to try those ideas for myself, I'm always wanting to incorporate more little things like that into the seasons each year. Wonderful inspiration :)

What a lovely post for May Day.
I used to leave Tussie Mussie's hanging on the neighbor's doors on May Day. After seeing your post, I should start that tradition up again...because of how much you've inspired me with these sweet ideas.
Maybe I will do that...just because.
Thank you, Deb!
