Sunday Serenity...

The strongest
yet remain
to be
sung ...
~Walt Whitman~
We've noticed lots of Robins  in our garden this Spring - twice as many as other years.
One sweet Robin has decided to build a nest in the trumpet wine which grows along our fence.
It doesn't seem like the safest spot as it's low enough that we are able to look inside it (with the 4 sweetest little eggs tucked inside).  I smiled when I saw some of the blue yarn I had left outside was put to good use!  We'll keep an eye on it - I have a "bird's eye view" from my Studio window ... I just had a look and she is sitting inside it now.
The blessing of new life ♥
The weather today is amazing ~ time to open the pond :-)

52 Friday...

To accomplish
great things
we must not only act,
but also dream;
not only plan,
but also believe
~Anatole France~
I spent some time this morning reading my Tasha Tudor Newsletter which was in my in-box.
What a perfect way to start the day and lead into the weekend!   The above quote was tucked amongst the writing.   I think it describes Tasha perfectly.
The photo was taken around 2009 at the Lake.  I thought to use it after reading the newsletter and seeing the word STILLWATER.  One of Tasha's beliefs was that "one ought to seek a peaceful state of mind".
I have an old VHS Victory Garden tape where Tasha takes us for a tour of her gorgeous gardens & greenhouse, her 2 adorable Corgi heading to the pond.   I  can still remember rushing to find a tape once I realized Tasha was on the program :-)
I must get it converted to DVD as it is a real treasure.
~Have a wonderful Friday~

Thankful {things I love} Thursday...

This week I am Loving & Thankful for...
 My daughter's baking!
Kate stopped by and noticing a bowl full of lemons on the counter  began making Lemony Pudding cups ~ YUM!
Sharing the recipe...
6 tbsp room temperature unsalted butter
2/3 cup demerara sugar
3/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 tbsp lemon zest
4 large free range eggs, separated
1/2 cup all purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup milk
~Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Place 6 oven proof tea cups in a Pyrex dish.
In stand mixer, beat butter and sugar, add lemon juice and zest. Add eggs one at  time followed by flour ,baking powder and milk. In a separate bowl,  whip egg whites until stiff peaks form and fold into lemon
Evenly distribute batter into cups.  Pour boiling water around cups to come half way up.
Bake for 35 minutes and serve warm ♥
Our little lilac bush is blooming ...
I love the scent of lilac and in a few weeks there will be enough blooms that I won't mind snipping off a few to fill vases in our home :-)

I love the feeling of community amongst bloggers.
One of my favourite blog reads  is Lori who writes lori x 5 .  She is planning an exciting adventure to Africa and bringing little gifts with her to pass along.  Lori  generously shared her "pocket pattern" and asked if we may like to join in and make one .  I haven't been doing any knitting (or much of anything else) due to some problematic arm/neck issues, but the pattern was so easy &  the pockets so little,  the sentiment so big, I managed to knit 5 sent to Africa w) love ♥
This quote: Reminding myself of the words!
I am only one,
but I am one.
I cannot do everything,
but I can do something.
And I will not let
what I cannot do
interfere with
what I
can do.
~Edward Everett Hale~
Listening to my favourite Jazz station & hearing my new favourite song:
On My Way to Harlem by Gregory Porter ... fantastic!!
who pays homage to the amazing (and my favourite poet) Langston Hughes in the lyrics.
Wishing you a Thursday filled with Love & Thankfulness too ♥

Saturday ...

We had quite the change in weather & our walk today required winter coats, hats and gloves!
Every now and then it would start to sprinkle ...
We could hear the birds singing happily but none were spotted ...
So I had to look for other things to take pictures of...
and found a heart shaped rock  ♥
Archer's reinactment of Pharaoh in the opening credits of Downton Abbey :-)

52 Friday...

Hubby has been busy bringing out the garden furniture.  So far we know that Archer LOVES the garden swing & never misses an opportunity to cuddle with us on it :-)
He was a bit confused about the wheelbarrow however and climbed in!!
The weather this morning was fabulous.  The garden is alive with butterflies (so early for us) and a few landed on my arm as I wandered about the yard.  Little blooms appearing all around.
Two male Cardinals were having a "singing competition" which became comical to listen to :-D
I love the delicate white blossoms on the flowering pear that shades our pond ...
In the shade garden, the Bleeding Heart is blooming ...
Sun and moon
divide the sky
fragrance blooms
on pear wood bones
earth awakens
with a sigh
wanderer revels
on the path

52 Friday...

Live in rooms
full of
~Cornelius Celsus~
My lack of posting this week is due to some {long standing} issues I am having with my neck/arm so I haven't any new photos to post.  This yellow finch photo is an oldie taken from my kitchen window. I love the soft muted bokeh and LIGHT .
Have a wondeful weekend.  Rain is in the forecast for us.

Bunny Ears...

Who knew a happy Lab came with their own bunny ears :-)
The happiest day of the week for Archer ... like us, his ♥ is in the country!
The Spirit of Easter
is all about

It doesn't take very long, once we are home
 after a good long walk/run ...
and it's time for a nice long afternoon nap.

We've filled our urns with  pansies, wrapped them in grapevine and tucked in pussy willow stems where ever we can :-)
 spotted  signs of new LIFE...
