The ordinary arts we practice every day at home are of more importance to the soul than their simplicity might suggest ~ Sir Thomas Moore ~

Weaving a spell of Nostalgia...

From my {Christmas}  kitchen ...
Christmas ~
that magic blanket
that wraps itself about us,
that something
so intangible
that it is like a fragrance.
It may
weave a spell of nostalgia.
Christmas
may be a day
of feasting,
or of prayer,
but always
it will be
a day of
remembrance ~
a day
in which we think of
everything
we
have
ever
loved.
~Augusta E Rundel~

For me,
nothing has ever taken precedence
over being a mother
and having a family
and a home

Every year, since my children were little, we have baked and decorated a Gingerbread house.
This year, we made 3!  One with my grand baby ... which we hung outside in the birds/squirrel Christmas tree, one for the kitchen, and one for the dining room table.
I found a gingerbread house cookie cutter set this year at The Christmas Tree Shop which worked beautifully (finally, a house with straight walls) :-)
Jars are filled with homemade peppermint popcorn and "Cookies for Santa" mixes just waiting on the counter to be placed in wicker baskets and wrapped in cellophane ...
Handmade tags tied with red & white twine have special Christmas messages inside ...
I have wanted to make a Pepparkaksgranar {Gingerbread Tree}  for years but could never find star cookie cutters in enough sizes to make one tall enough!
A few weeks ago, I found a set.
Each star is joined with a drop of boiled sugar/lemon juice which acts as a glue, and finished with a tap of  icing sugar from high like fallen snow.  aah snow ... now wouldn't that be nice ♥
