The ordinary arts we practice every day at home are of more importance to the soul than their simplicity might suggest ~ Sir Thomas Moore ~

Thankful {things I love} Thursday...

I LOVE creating photo/inspiration boards & have 3 hanging up on the walls in Sparrow Studio.
I also found while doing a big purge in Sparrow Studio, many file folders, hidden away in a large cupboard that were bulging with photos I haven't looked at in ages.
So with the start of a new year, and after a big clean up, it's now time to get organized :-)
I picked up some Scrapbooks at the Dollar Store, and sat, one file folder at a time, organizing the photos into categories ~ Garden ~ Home ~ Studio.
I have really enjoyed sitting quietly, with a cup of tea, gluing the photos into each scrapbook.
It didn't take long to see the "look" I love :-)
Lots of dark wood, cream coloured walls, heavy furniture & antiques
were a consistent theme.
Of course, I had to include quotes here and there :-)

I've also added paint chips for reference...

It's a good source of inspiration for my "to do list" :-)
I'd love to have covers like these made for my dining room chairs for the spring/summer months.

Some kitchen inspiration...
Another favourite of mine - exposed brick walls! I like the contrast of the covered chairs with the wood table.

I love everything about these rooms!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
***
This bright New Year
is given me
To live each day with zest...
To daily grow
and try to be
My highest
and
my best!
I have the opportunity
to pray for peace
to plant a tree
And sing
more joyful songs !

I have tons of similar magazine clippings which I pulled out this week and started pasting in a journal.
Happy New Year, Deb, and thanks for stopping by,

Deb

Hello Deb, gee I just love your little inspiration books!... I want to make some of my own now, I already keep what I call a "treasure board" but little books sound perfect... I too love the darker woods and antiques, and how fun that you added little quotes here and there... xoxo Julie Marie

Happy New Year to you too Deb. Those rooms you collect look very cozy. I like wood too.

This looks great, Deb!
You know I have my Illustrated Discovery Journal, but still have many file folders filled with tons of gorgeous pictures that are patiently waiting for me to organize them. A while back, I purchased some thrifted ring binders to be slipcovered in some way, and used as inspiration books for house and garden. Now I'm living in a complete mess due to the move and I have no idea where they are, but maybe in 2011 I'll find some quiet time to do that... Thanks for the inspiration!
Hugs,
Monica xo

Dear Deb,
Happy New Year!
I also am involved with organizing...seems as if every year I have to get after all the bits and pieces of life.
Your decorating scrapbooks would be books of inspiration!
I love native woods and stone too.
Stay warm and cozy.

Deb you've inspired me with this idea! I have so many magazines that I save and what a great way to edit them by cutting out the photos that inspire me! A great New Years project!
