Thankful {things I love} Thursday...

Finishing up some little things ...
I wasn't sure what I wanted to bake yesterday afternoon, but one look in the pantry I noticed a little bit of coconut & a little bit of chopped pecans in a container, so I decided to make cupcakes with cream cheese icing and dipped half in coconut & the other half in chopped nuts.
I also noticed a little bit of chocolate chips - just the right amount for ooey gooey chocolate chippers
and a little bit of currants - and currant scones was what I really felt like :-)
so I made a few of those too! I've added the recipe in case you feel like making them ♥
which made for the perfect little pick me up after all the baking (and washing up) was done.
With a sliced pear on the side and a cup of tea ~ delicious.
And now that I've finished the scarf I began last week, I have a little bit of wool left over...
just enough for a pair of gloves :-)

Currant Scones/Buns
3 cups all purpose flour
4 tsp baking powder
3/4 tsp salt
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup cold butter cut into cubes
1 cup cold milk
2 tbsp heavy cream
2 tsp turbinado sugar
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.  In large mixing bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, salt and sugar.  Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly.  Stir in milk to incorporate.  Add 1 1/2 cups of currants (I soak them a little in a small amount of orange juice).  Knead in the bowl a few times to incorporate the dough into a ball.  Turn dough out onto a lightly floured work surface and roll out into a circle approximately 1 inch thick.
You can either cut the dough into 8 wedges, or cut out with a circular cutter.  Place on parchment lined baking sheet and brush with cream and top with turbinado sugar.
Bake until golden about 25 minutes.
Enjoy ♥

Good for the Soul...

however small,
plant a garden.

is good
for the soul.

I wasn't able to get many photos of Mama Robin.  Out of the 4 eggs, two babies resulted.
Her nesting spot was really awkwardly built and even though we tried to keep that side of the garden off limits by avoiding opening the gate etc ... she was nervous.  I had hoped to get photos from my Studio window, but the Trumpet vine grew too quickly and  hung down covering her nest.
Yesterday, we noticed two Robins building a NEW nest in the pergola outside our kitchen window :-)
This is the usual spot chosen by the Robins each Spring and so much fun to sit at the kitchen table watching all the activity as they go about gathering nesting material and wiggling their bodies to flatten and shape their nest.  I like this spot as it's nice and safe and cool. The pergola is covered with Honeysuckle vine and the leaves are huge, draping  like little curtains.

Stillness...

Linking with Yarn Along today ...

I was playing "catch up" yesterday, visiting favourite blogs I haven't read in a while ...
one link led to another, and I came across this lovely pattern  for a garter stitch triangle "Mara shawl " with a pleated border  by Madelinetosh.
The wool colour is aptly called "Stillness"
Reading Yoga journal magazine ...
and writing a shopping list as I look through the pages of  EAT TASTE HEAL which is filled with wonderful looking recipes ...

Even though I've clipped more than a few blossoms for bouquets, the Lilac bush this year has produced enormous, wonderfully fragrant purple mounds. We've left them brushing up against the kitchen window because they are just so pretty!
My new library book bag ~ a Mother's Day gift from my daughter ♥
I was so happy I had my camera sitting on the kitchen table when this little sweetheart took full advantage of the sunshine ... I clicked away and it was only until I uploaded the photo that I noticed the heart shaped bokeh produced from our garden pond ♥
This is a favourite spot amongst the squirrels ...many will stretch out along the deck railing and I think the sound of the water is as soothing to them as it is to us as they always seem to nod off for a little bit :-)
New Guiness Impatients (and favourite garden bench) ...
and just as I was about to put the lens back on the Nikon,
sweet yellow finch flew by landing in the Lilac xoxo

Since I've been spending little time on the computer , I am terribly behind with blog postings finding it hard to find the time to sit and do a proper post...
Here's what should have been last week's 52 Friday post  with a quote by Oprah Winfrey I love.

Thankful {things I love} Thursday...

Archer Graduated from his 8 week Obedience Class .
We had such fun & the nicest group!
To help celebrate, we made a little gift bag of Archer's favourite peanut butter biscuits for everyone ♥ and a box full for all the doggies still waiting to find their 'forever homes'
Not wanting to disturb Mum, this is the best pic I could get  ...
All is well in the nest (I check every time I'm upstairs in the studio) & can't wait to see the babes emerging...
We were afraid we'd lost our Purple Sand cherry last year.
The large Maple in our yard was taking all the sunshine.
We hoped a good trim back of the dead wood would do the trick & it did!
I love these delicate blossoms ...
Yesterday, butterflies were fluttering about through the branches ♥

Chipmunk Camouflage...

Archer spotted the Chipmunks LONG before we did ...
we could hear them chasing each other amongst the branches ...
They were so camouflaged that I could barely spot one sitting on the fallen branch.

 it feels like rain today...
can you spot the chipmunk?
