"you are on the right path"

Tasha Tudor Day ♥...

Joyfully remembering & celebrating the life and art of Tasha Tudor today
on what would have been her 98th Birthday.
Tasha's  family continues her legacy through their lovely blog Rookery Ramblings
 {and wonderful newsletter}
 where they are celebrating today with a giveaway { a rose plant from the Tudor family garden in Vermont }
painting joy
I feel a kinship with Tasha ~
her style
Independence
love of Nature & Home
sitting with my watercolours
{I went looking through my art cupboard and found 2 old paintings I had done from the 90's}
growing up in England & Canada, we had a rabbitry in the garden, so a little bunny here and there in a picture feels right at home ♥
gathering joy
&
keeping the company of blossoms
be  it on watercolour paper
or woodland walks ...
taking joy
 in the "little things"
here is the newest member of our garden :-)
we call him blue and he will sit in the lilac bush next to our kitchen window
and squawk letting us know the almonds are gone
and he is still hungry!
we sat on the deck enjoying a cup of tea watching blue fly back and forth until all the almonds were gone & he was content.
tasting joy
in our vegetable garden
not worried about all the tomatoes turning, as they will be turned into green tomato chutney
I cherish
 &
 read joy
in my ever growing collection of Tasha Tudor books.
& love the quote in "Tasha Tudors Garden"  by Tovah Martin
"Her hands
are always busy
and her head
is forever filled
with dreams"

Thankful {things I love} Thursday ...

Our garden has been filled with happy, hungry,  baby birds
especially black birds & of course,
sparrows ♥
they all love the suet baskets and it seems that no sooner is a new block added
it needs to be refilled ...
a metal bird cage has become the perfect peanut feeder
Mr Jay lets me know when it's empty :-)
we only have 1 blue Jay and want to keep him happy!
I've been collecting seeds from the cosmos & scattering it throughout the garden ...
this morning I spotted the most gorgeous Oriole eating the trumpet vine blooms
I hope he returns ...
and earlier in the week the hibiscus bloomed

something old

The complete life,
the perfect pattern,
includes old age as well as youth and maturity.
The beauty of the morning and the radiance of noon are good
but it would be a very silly person
who drew the curtains
and turned on the light
in order to shut out the tranquility of the evening.
Old age has its pleasures, which, though different,
are not less than the pleasures of youth.

August Break Project Day 13 ...

Day 13
~Home~
I could hardly believe it when I found out that I had won a giveaway a few weeks ago from

6 - 4 piece place settings of
Antique Countryside Fig
The most gorgeous pattern!
Birds* Butterflies* Figs* French Stamps* Scripts* Scrolls* Scallops
The colour scheme is the perfect compliment to vintage pieces I have inherited that are near and dear to my heart .
This little Victorian mustard pot with cobalt blue glass liner
sat on my grandparent's table at every meal.  Being from England, Colman's dry mustard powder is a staple & as a child, it was my job to prepare it  :-D
As each beautifully packaged box was opened, I sat in awe at the detail of each piece.
I could not wait to start enjoying this gorgeous china!
It's amazing how much more delicious everything tastes when you are using beautiful china ♥
I love the colours of Antique Countryside Fig.
The colours of my garden ...
and anything with butterflies & birds speaks to my soul
I snipped some hydrangea ...
and some honeysuckle leaves {they are beginning to change colours now}
the tiny vintage salt & pepper shakers were also my grandparents ...
my carnival glass milk & sugar set was a gift from a dear neighbour when I was 11 or 12.
She started my "hope chest" which was back then, a cardboard box in my closet.
I use this milk & sugar set all the time.  Mrs. H also taught me how to knit and crochet and sew ♥
Thank you so much to Sandy @ French laundry,
Lifetime brands/Mikasa, and Jennifer Walsh for your lovely e-mails!
and my sweet daughter Kate ~ we had so much fun table setting together xo

When my 2 year old grandson asked me one day what I was doing,
